When does this “back in the day”

period end and when does another begin? If you're 93 years old, your "day" is very likely much different than a 63-year-old's.

And at what point do "days" in that backwash of time begin to overlap? I.e., if I'm claiming that my day in 1970 was more interesting, more honorable, more disciplined, more honest or more difficult than another guy's day in 1950 or 1990, is there a seam in that continuum where one of our days blends into the next, or is there just a wall where my "back in the day" begins and stops and the others precede or follow mine?

Back in my day we solved stuff like this on Friday nights. If you don’t have the spine for it, I'm sorry for you.
