the mortality rate is very skewed by the rates in Huebi province. Over 1,000 of the 1,100 deaths are from there. 1 in 33 infected have died. Outside of there, that means that 100 deaths out of 12,000 (1 in 120) have died.

Also for every death, 2.5 have recovered, for everywhere else 21 have recovered for every death, so it's not just that the infections have not had time to lead to deaths in other places yet.

The more that comes out the more it feels like there is a bunch more going on there than we know, and given the culture over there, we won't know. Be honest, if someone told you that the Chinese gov was killing infected people to keep this under control, would it really surprise you?
