The referee doesn't award near fall points immediately, anyway.


Once you get your two or four seconds of nearfall, the points aren't actually awarded until your opponent gets back out of danger. Otherwise, you could put your guy in danger, hold him for four, let him get back to 90 degrees, and then slam him back down again. The ref will hold out two or four fingers after he swipes and then award the points when the other guy is back to his belly.
