I was talking to Coach Robie at the social after the Duke match. I mentioned something to him about Mekhi and Latona and how good they have looked in the room an how difficult it must be not having them in the lineup. He told me that we currently have 5 starters who are either walk-on’s or on a books only scholarship (he didn’t mention names). He also said that we currently have 3.5 (out of 9.9) scholarships in the lineup. We have six starters from VA and one from the great wrestling state of Maine. When you take all the into consideration, 3 point loss to the #3 team in the country doesn’t seem that bad. I do think NC State is a bit overrated. Everyone needs to consider the fact that we are without Latona, who appears to be a top 10 wrestler as a true freshman, A DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION and Korbin Myers another top 10 wrestler.
