In some weird way, a 12th seed may be better than 8/9 seed...

if Tech makes past the first round game. At 8/9, Tech plays a #1 seed on their floor the 2nd round. As a 12th seed, Tech plays a #5 seed in the 1st round and then advances and plays a #4 seed in the 2nd round. A #5 seed is a team that is ranked between #17-20. A #4 seed is ranked #13-16. It seems in the men's tournament that the #12 and #13 seeds have numerous upsets in round 1, not sure about the women's tournament.
