ACCT Points based on Projected ACC Seeds ...
Thanks to Jeffrey4VT analysis (looks pretty accurate) for the ACCT seeding, here are the project point scoring:
NCS - 78 points
UNC - 67.5 points
Pitt - 63 points
VT - 49.5 points
UVa - 42 points
Duke - 0 points (only their 174 guy, Eaglin has a real chance to score)
VT's fortunes have taken a massive dip due to a number of wrestlers dropping matches the last few weeks resulting in dropping to #4/#5 seeds which puts them in line to face the #1 seed in semifinals resulting in very few opportunities to get to the finals.. These include 125, 133, 157, 174, 197, and 285. VT wrestlers with finals potential include Moore at 141 (probable 3 seed), Andonian at 149 (probably 2 seed), McFadden at 165 (probable 3 seed), and 184 (probable 1 seed).
Now the points above are based on assuming that wrestlers finish where they are projected to be seeded but there are some opportunities to better the project points including the following:
1. #4 Prata could beat either Melendez or Camacho for 3rd.
2. #5 Gerardi could wrestle to 3rd but will have to beat #4 Hayes and then another higher seed for 3rd.
3. #3 Moore gets to final.
4. #4 BC LaPrade could be Headlee or Rahmani for 3rd.
5. #3 McFadden gets to final.
6. #4 Hughes beats Lautt for 3rd.
7. #4 Smeltzer beats Whitman/Reenan (maybe) for 3rd.
8. #4 Borst beats Wilson or Miller for 3rd.
I personally believe VT is in a battle with Pitt for 3rd but these ACCT's can be interesting as a number of wrestlers typically lose to wrestlers they beat in regular season but it is always exciting to be there and take it all in.
Go Holies.
