This is a MAJOR set back for the program...

I was surprised at the number of posters who were thinking this was no big deal when it was announced. Okay, so his performance declined as the season progressed, but he was just a freshman with an EXTREMELY young supporting cast. It looked like he could possibly be a "One-and-Done" freshman, so I thought it may have been good that he wasn't an all-star at the end of the season (until this news).

Here are the things that are bumming me out:

x - SIZE, SIZE, SIZE - I know he wants to be a swing man, but he still had height that this team is desperate for. Which helps for defense and rebounding (where he had some success).
x - I doubt we obtain any one with his skill level via the Portal (meaning he will be tough to replace). Yes, our two 2020 recruits have good resumes, but they don't have have LNs size or experience (remember he practiced for a whole year with one of the best VT teams ever).
x - I don't think the beginning of the year was an anomaly, and I expected more of that version of LN in the future.

Do you think he is really leaving to play more wing? It's weird that he stuck around after last year, but is departing this year so I wonder if there is more to the story.

Ugh - very frustrating. Over the last 30 years, has any team had worse luck than VT basketball?
