That's the point. He doesn't want to play the same song/beat, 200 times.


Not saying I agree, or disagree (ok, it's a bit pretentious of him).

The positive spin --- he doesn't want to stay in place, he wants to constantly evolve & create new art

The negative spin --- he doesn't want people singing along, because then it "belongs" to the audience, and not him. It's all about his ego.

On the flip-side, if you've been to Jimmy Buffett, you can understand why some artists & fans don't want the same 8-9 songs, over and over and over, for 20+ years.
