Likely a pyridine carboxylic acid-based herbicide, such as picloram.


The residential lawn herbicides using these chemistries include clopyralid, aminopyralid, etc.

Unfortunately/fortunately, many of these types of herbicides are not for sale to/use by homeowners due to their toxicity in compost as they are persistent and act at very low concentrations due to their hormonal activity.
