I'm a construction project manager, so I've been fortunate to work in an industry deemed "essential". Granted, I have had to work from home because my daughter can't go to school, and I will probably have to do so until September (assuming summer camps are not allowed to operate). My wife is a nurse, so she can't work remotely, but thankfully my company has been flexible and allows me to do so.

I have absolutely zero social life (I'm the world's biggest introvert and I spend my non-work time with my family), so aside from going out to eat and working from home, this has had very little direct impact on me. But my heart goes out to the tens of millions of people who have seen their livelihood completely vanish in the blink of an eye. I've tried to put myself in their shoes and I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through. My wife has been furloughed 10 hours per week for the foreseeable future, but she still has benefits, so honestly it's hardly even worth mentioning. If nothing else changes, we'll be fine. But I'm heartbroken for the people who are now jobless through absolutely no fault of their own. The initial shutdowns were necessary to stem the spread of the virus, but in my opinion, it's time to let people go back to work.
