I agree with you on the need for balance but on nothing else.
I agree there should be balance but that means non-essential businesses should remain shuttered. Phase four of the bailout is being negotiated now so more help is on the way for small businesses.
There is a flu vaccine but there is not a vaccine for covid-19. Also, flu deaths are estimated. Nobody keeps track of the number of actual flu deaths.
There is already a smoking ban in Virginia's public and I'm glad it passed. The states realized that second-hand smoke was potentially endangering non-smokers so they put through a ban in public places.
There are safe driving laws in place to lessen automobile deaths and each driver is supposed to have a license before hitting the road.
Covid-19 is different because people can be asymptomatic carriers of the disease. They can spread the virus and kill people without even knowing it. Reckless drivers know they are going 70MPH in a 30MPH zone. Smokers know the people around them are inhaling their poisonous close of toxins and many don't care.
My original point was that Sweden's herd immunity practices have resulted in sharp increases in cases/deaths.
