Zero turn? I’ve replaced numerous batteries. I may have a starter issue now

While I was at the local a Kubota dealer picking up supplies, a woman came up looking for a starter for her riding shaft on the start had sheared. Said she could hear clunk clunk clunk as she tried to start the mower, then a wire sound - after the shear. Guess what my zero turn sounded like when I went to started to move it over to the driveway spa! Very similar to her description. 😳
