It was interesting to hear him explain the timing.


Drugs and supplements had been part of the culture for years, both of the legal and illegal variety. And the performance difference between doping and not doping was not necessarily significant.
But EPO in the mid-90s was the real game changer that could separate the dopers from the non-dopers.

Also interesting that he had no safety concerns about using EPO even after cancer, because it was a "safe" drug when working with a doctor.
