Question on new TV's

I'm now in the market for a new TV.

As some may know from reading this board, a near by lightening strike fried the HDMI ports on on both my 55" Sony a signal from the cable box to the TV. Also the HDMI ports on the desk top computer was fried also.

Fixed the computer by getting a new lap top. Removed the HDD and put in a docking station. Works fine on the lap top.

Only the HDMI ports were fried on the TV. The computer and streaming side of the TV still work fine. However, I get no signal between the cable box and TV. A small 21" Vizio TV does woek when connected to the cable box.

I know, this offered the perfect excuse to drop cable and get something like You Tube TV. I did, but I've been totally underwhelmed by You Tube TV. And now that the TV has done a software update, You Tube TV doesn't even work.

So I've decided to get a new TV. So I'd like some thoughts on TV's. Which do you think are hot garbage or the greatest thing since sliced bread and PB & J.

WRT the TV, I haven't hooked up the Blu-Ray player to the TV via component cables yet. Will do that today in order to find out if those ports are fried also.
