The medication is reaching it’s minimum concentration in your system while you are sleeping and have few triggers to drive blood pressure up. Wake, take your medication and increase concentration of medication in your system to improve control as you are waking and start to encounter the stress of the day. Very simplified logic and I am sure it is much more complex depending on the drivers of your high blood pressure.
