Regarding the DVR, you should be able to pick up where you left off...

mine picks up where I left off. You can try going to Settings, then Privacy. Make sure your "Pause Watch History" is set to "off." If that doesn't work, it might be some compatibility issue with the streaming device (?), or something else.
