I have many extended family members there who are claiming there's


a new spirit (pre-COVID) of rebirth. A good bit of new construction and reinvention of industrial focus to technology, rather than just the auto industry.

People have asked me, "They're making a comeback, aren't they?" and my response has been, "Yes. They keep needing to." Much of Detroit is still shuttered industrial, commercial and residential blight. I usually tell people I'm from Detroit, but that's not my fault - I had almost nothing to do with it." The good news is, my family left Motown when I was 5 and we never went back.
