Now that you know sketchup,

if you ever consider doing some major renovations like cabinets, bookshelves, etc., check out a sketchup plugin called cabinet sense software. It is subscription based but the top tier is only $75 per month and you can cancel at any time. It is geared towards CNC but is extremely useful for measurements, on the fly dimension changes or design changes, and produces a nice cut list. I have a CNC and I could literally design a basic kitchen and have the files generated to begin cutting in about 10 minutes.
