I think it is more about litigation


e.g. they want to play, they need to play to keep sports even functioning not just football but olympic sports. WE as a society put them in this position and then are shocked with how they respond is disingenuous at best.

I think they want to do conference only so they can handle player, school, conference litigation "as a group" vs the conferences point fingers at each other. Example, PSU vs VT happens a VT player tests positive then dies. PSU came to the game with 5 players who post game test positive. VT had 3 players test positive after the game, who gave it to the player that died? Who is at fault?

Nothing ANYONE is doing is about reducing risk, it is risk avoidance in the attempt to avoid litigation. From county school systems, to counties, to state and federal governments.
