My Mother-in-law has alzheimer's. We had to put her in AL about 5 years...
ago and then in a locked Memory Care unit about 2 years ago when she started wandering. It was really tough on my wife. Logically, she knew it was a situation where we could not possibly care for her without that help. After she called the fire department and had them come to her house in the middle of the night, but didn't remember that she had called them when they showed up, we knew we needed to make a move.
She refused any companion care or overnight nursing care at home, but she was certainly note safe to leave at home alone. The hardest part was her asking incessantly when she could go home.
I truly feel for what you are going through. I hope you can find peace knowing it is the best thing for her. God bless you.
