My wife (a teacher) and I were talking about face masks in Elementary...

School tonight and there's so many issues. All people, but especially younger kids, use facial gestures to communicate and it helps kids interpret what adults are saying especially when they don't understand. It's going to be so much more difficult to teach and let kids know when it's time to be serious, if something's funny, etc. without them seeing a teacher's full face.

And, how are teachers in the kindergarten, 1st grade supposed to teach the sounds a letter or combination of letters make? Not to mention getting kids to wear masks correctly, find masks that fit and to keep them on all day.

For in person teaching, almost seems masks are pointless for the younger kids and teachers should wear face shields.
