Fwiw, I thought the schools should've been more upfront from the beginning about the potential likelihood of an all-virtual start to the semester. It's basically the same deal as what the college conferences are doing right now, putting out all these creative plans about scheduling to make it seem like they're doing everything they can to still have football.

But in the end it's mostly window dressing. Either the community spread is sufficiently under control to do stuff or it isn't (from both a practical standpoint and a public confidence standpoint). And the only reason they haven't cancelled college football yet is because they're hoping the trends will reverse over the next 2-3 weeks. If they don't, it's not happening.

Same thing happened here with the schools, but in-person school is more important than college football and can (and must) be executed different ways in different places as needed. So that's why I think there's still a chance FFx/Ldn may get back in to classrooms this fall at some point. The risk calculation is a little different than it is for college sports and where we live isn't doing too badly.
