Here's the story when she was inducted into the VT Hall of Fame:

Crowell was a four-year letterwinner for the Hokies from 1999-2002. She was an important utility player for VT, pitching, playing third base and seeing some time in the outfield as well.

Crowell earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Conference team as a freshman and a sophomore. In 2000, she was named to the Virginia all-state team as a pitcher and an outfielder as voted on by state SIDs, becoming the first player in state history to make the team at two different positions in the same year. Crowell was named to the All-Big East Second Team as a senior in 2002. She also was named First Team All-Region after leading the Hokies with a .367 batting average. As a pitcher, Crowell still stands second all-time at Tech in winning percentage as a pitcher (.722) and remains third in career ERA and shutouts, and fourth in wins and complete games.
