For the Caps and the other teams that were in...


the top four positions, they are simply playing for seeding 1-4 based on the round robin results. So, the worst possible outcome is the 4th seed going into the "playoffs."

The other teams are in 5-game elimination series, so lose that series and they are out of the playoffs and go home.
