I'd be interested in knowing the source of their crab meat

Haven't done a lot of looking this year but hearing that crab in MD is off the charts expensive, the limits are down and the normal supply from Louisiana has been disrupted by Covid (or so goes the story on everything).

As background, the MD crab fishery has been tightly controlled for years and is recovering well, but nearly all of the local catch quota is contracted to processing companies. Thus, when you get live or steamed crabs on the eastern shore, most are from Louisiana.

I'm sure there are import sources for crab meat, not sure where they are from (heard Thailand before), but if it matters to you, you might want to see if they know the source of their meat. If they say MD or the Chesapeake Bay, I'd consider that unlikely (not impossible, but questionable). Remember, crabs are bottom feeders and if they live and are caught in polluted waters (especially mercury or other heavy metals) the meat will have higher concentrations of those toxins.

The same is true for water heavy produce like grapes....never buy grapes grown in Chile...the place is a toxic waste dump with terrible water quality and they export grapes...go figure..
