About 8-10 years ago, I saw a ~8' hammerhead under...

...the pier at Harbour Town in Hilton Head. I was standing on the pier and it was essentially directly below. There were a bunch of folks embarking on a kayak tour from the shore no more than 100 yards from there. That definitely got my attention.
