I don't know. The way it all went down


simultaneously makes me think the developers, more specifically Sawyer, were behind all of it. The lawyer told him to play dirty and that was her only instruction. So, he got dirty and made a move to decapitate the snake. Jamie was spared because he's Attorney General (too high profile) and he's removed himself from the argument by recusing himself altogether.
