Did a Bike Virginia one year and one of the rest stops was on Route 11

somewhere south of Lexington, VA (hint hint) So there I am grabbing some food, bananas, energy bars, and fill up my water bottle with gatorade, look over on the other side of the road, and holy crap there are a couple of large exotic birds just on the other side of a wire fence. You know how you try to force things into something recognizable for a split second, what the? turkeys? no, emus? emus!

Then it dawned on me where we were, back side of the Virginia Safari Park where the animals hide out when they don't want to be seen by visitors.

Had to be there, I suppose, tired from riding, spacing out, and big, pom pom with legs and a head on a long neck staring back at you
