As you can see in the graphs, while the infections are spiking, the deaths have plateaued. Like Dr. Fauci said, the medical community has learned how to treat the disease so less people are dying from it. Also, we know those at higher risk (60 & older) so we're protecting them.

Still, we can't get too complacent because although infections may not lead to death, they do lead to hospitalizations and we don't want to overwhelm the hospitals because then, people with life-threatening situations unrelated to COVID won't have the care they need.

Still, I found it interesting that the two graphs differed so much.
