Tire-d of updates? Well, I am getting extra mileage outta this -

Turns out the patch/plug that was put in by my Honda dealer 4,000 miles ago was what failed: it wasn’t a new puncture. The whole set was new 12k miles ago.

Rather than hike across town to get that tire replaced I’m having Firestone put two new tires on the back. I called Honda and in the absence of a tire protection plan on my last set I’d need to put on new rubber anyway. Yes, I bought that with the new tires.

Honda is 20 miles away, Firestone is 5 miles. Two Continentals (Honda standard) are +$30 more than the comparable Firestone item. A final decision maker was that I can get my car back no later than tomorrow - and maybe after 3pm today - from Firestone, but Honda couldn’t even get to it until Monday.

And on the way home from dropping off my car, we stopped and voted. In and out in 10 minutes.
