Stunning epic 8-4 win in ultimate championship week of tennis league
Yes everyone, actually won the coveted 9th place in a ten person league. To repeat, I AM NOT DEAD LAST!!!
Sorta the championship where after seven weeks of playing, 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4 etc. these were, of course just building up to the final match of the day the 9/10 at 1:30. The match was an 8 game pro set to make sure we'd get it done within 1 1/2 hours. Lefty serve was working great, think I got him on his heels and his head did the rest, but I'll take it.
It's been fun, got waxed more than a few times but always kept my head in it and playing a lot better now. Next round starts Dec 6th, was thinking about the "taking a month off a year" thing but I dunno, on a (sorta) roll, nothing else planned, keeping me fit. Hmmmmm. Keep on, keepin' on like a blrd that flew?
PS I sure wish Chick-fil-As were open on Sunday, that would have been perfect after playing tennis and end of weekend thing.
PPS Guy, the 15 yo wunderkid kid and one of the older guys played the 1-2 to a 7-7 tie.
PPS I actually beat the 8 guy last week, I could have been #8. Yeah, I know "scoreboard" (sigh)
PPPS It's funny, but when you haven't been ahead much you're not quite sure what to do with a lead. I know what to do when I'm behind "Slow down, play one point at a time, just get the ball back etc." A lead is a new experience, Do I press? (which I did, came to the net a few times) Still play "one point at a time."? cut down on mistakes let the other guy make them? Obviously today's experience helps, mostly for confidence.
