Bought my current machine's components off Amazon

The only thing you really need to worry about is the MOBO, CPU & RAM. Amazon will typically recommend packages with all three that are compatible.

Every ATX MOBOs will plug into every ATX case on the planet. They all have ports that match up with the opening on the rear of the case, and the screw holes will line up with the threaded holes on the case.

Once you've picked out your MOBO, recommend going to the manufacturer's webpage to look at that MOBO & it's user manual. It will tell you what type of CPUs it supports, and what RAM is compatible. That's a nice cross-check to ensure you buy the right components.

Buy a video card that will support whatever you're working on. If you're doing "high end" design work, you may want to splurge for a "high end" video card that will support 4K renderings. I don't need that level of performance, so I can stick with a moderately priced card.

Once again, that's the beauty of building your own. You can spend where you need it.
