No love for Cab Calloway? (Jimmy Buffett)


Not that I ever really listened to him but there was a terrific Cab Callloway inspired bandleader in the DC area last 30 years (last reference I see is 2015) Doc Scatlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra so basically I got to live Cab Calloway indirectly. One of the best acts in the area, a must see even if you weren't into Swing/Big band music.

Probably Jimmy Buffett, may not be the most talented but sang, wrote songs created his own subgenre of music (yeah, I know, that's what musicians do, but becomes its own thing outside of other trends?)

Lennox great voice and little more history than others realize. Impressed with the Mandrell love, seemed to me someone who showed up on Christmas specials so maybe I missed something.

A more recent Dr Scantlin, he's slowed down a lot
