Ok, now we're REALLY going back to the small world angle.

I have finished my sophomore year at Virginia Tech, tell my Dad I'm giving up studying for an engineering degree and am going to major in communications. After hearing the speech about "you could earn twice as much driving a truck" for the umpteenth time, I take a job working part-time for a weekly in Blacksburg. Blacksburg HS is the paper's main focus, but they also cover Christiansburg. Being the low man on the totem pole, I get assigned to go write a story about Christiansburg's new high school basketball coach.

He played at Oral Roberts.

His name is Troy Wells. Travis' Dad.

He would eventually leave there to become an assistant to Husky Hall in Martinsville (and then take over when Husky retired). Which at the time was where Tony Dallas was playing and I was the sports editor of the newspaper.
