I'll go with Cooke, but McLaren had a big influence on the hip hop we hear


today. My roommate at VT was a progressive music fan and he bought the Buffalo Girls single. We listened to that trying to pick out all the sounds that were mixed/sampled into that release. This was the early 80's, and introduced us to the scratching sound, sampling, break dancing, etc.

I am a fan of INXS too.
