How does one get started in chess?


At the age of 55. My boys started playing when they were younger, but it was rare that last piece ever touched the board because the board would get tossed, and we had a number of fist fights and had to ban the game altogether. I think they were playing "no stress chess" in a group at school. I will have some time on my hand the next ten weeks and had been thinking about this.......
