If you have to be helped off the field, you cannot return to play for the remainder of the quarter.

Though, I would prefer to see substitutions minimized in football. For example, teams can only substitute after a 1st down in achieved. That way, you have to stick with the same 11 guys for three straight plays.

Will that happen? Never. But, it would be nice to be able to minimize the dead time in-between plays.
