From a non-VT wrestling fanatic, on his way to the tourney:


So, your guys have a really interesting team. Here are some thoughts on their guys and possibilities for placement:

125: Latona: 2nd seed of the tournament. But, kind of untested. He could go as high as 2nd or not get past Round of 16. Possible team points: 0-20

133: Korbin Myers: 3rd seed, super tough 5-6th year senior. I think he finishes no worse than 6th. Possible team points: 8-18

149: Bryce Andonian: 6 seed, super tough young guy, untested. He could go as high as 5-6th or not get past round of 16. Possible team points: 0-12

157: Connor Brady: Good young guy, unlikely to win a match.

165: Mekhi Lewis: 4th seed (terrible seeding). Mekhi has been up and down this year, but he showed last time that he turns it up a notch. Worst case he comes in at 5-6th, but he could win it. Possible team points: 12-25

174: Cody Howard: same as 157

184: Hunter Bolen: 5 seed, should have been the 3 seed, got screwed. He can’t beat Brooks, but he could get to the semis to face him. He drops down from the semis and gets 3-6. The #2-10 guys at 184 are so similar, any one of them could beat the other. In a way, Hunter’s bad seed gave him a solid path to the semis, which guarantees no worse than 6th. Possible team points: 12-18

HWY: Hunter Catke: 18 seed. He could make it to the blood round. But, then he likely gets Colton Schultz (Arizona State), which is not a winnable match. So, he likely scores a few points for the team. Possible team points: 0-5

Possible team points: 32-108

On the high end, VT takes 2nd in the team race. Nobody is beating Iowa this year.
