If you end up with a franchise QB, it's worth it
Heck, seems like the best path to winning a Super Bowl these days is to either have a QB who is still on their rookie contract, or an aging QB who is willing to restructure things so they can get a good team around them for one last run before they retire. About the worst case scenario is a superstar QB who is getting paid like one. There is just no money left over for the rest of the team.
If there is a QB in the draft you think you can win a Super Bowl with in the next three years, by all means go get him. Problem is, that is an iffy proposition at best.
Lawrence is about as sure a thing as we've had in the draft since Luck. But I don't see the #3 pick getting you Lawrence.
