Me and another college buddy were the two prep guys. This is the old Charles Barker Toyota up at Hilltop.
We had 2 bays to work from at the rear of the building. There was a small lot with about 20-25 cars in different states of body damage that sat in that lot waiting to go to the body shop that was in a separate building farther back on the lot.
One day towards the end of the summer, my buddy comes up and says I gotta see this. He had gone up to a car that had sat there all summer with serious rear body damage. It looked like it had been abandoned at the shop. He had taken our razor blade scraper and scraped in huge letters on the front hood of the car, "EAT ME". Scraped the paint right off the hood. We howled with laughter over that.

Well, about 2 weeks later, the body shop mgr comes walking through the bays with this customer and sure enough it was the owner of the Eat Me car. We saw them walk over to it, and the customer went ballistic. The manager was dumbfounded trying to apologize, while we hid in one of the cars laughing so loud worried we'd get caught. Of course all the mechanics come running out of the bays to witness the commission. And of course they all thought it was hilarious too.

Well, it turns out we got stuck having to buff out the Eat Me and do a bunch of work to fix it. I made my buddy do it since he caused it all.
Worst part was you couldn't brag about it to everyone in the shop or we'd get in serious trouble.

Still cracks me up 40 years later.
