As we lead up to the 04/29/21 NFL draft and the completion of spring practice I am left with so many questions. We are 2 of the ACC schools not to have a spring game and we have access to our own network and Bill Roth the former voice of the Hokies is right there to call the game. Miami, Florida, and other talented schools have televised their Pro days on a TV network. During the restrictions of Covid 19 there have been changes in how things are done. My biggest question is why does VT not at least bench mark the other schools who are promoting their team/brand as much as they can. The Pro day is just a big free commercial to youth players and recruits if you come here you can reach your dreams of the NFL. VT has 2 top 20 prospects and 2 others guys for sure that will be day 2-3 draft picks. Maybe more with Rashard Ashby however his height might hurt him a bit but his production was insane. VT has gone to a recruiting plan of going to any state to get recruits as well as international with France and Germany now on the list. I will give them credit that we are doing things on a local level with the Zoom meetings with coaches, players and alumni. I think that pleases some Hokie Club members hoverer everyone wants more. Th more is more wins. I just see enough progress by the program to get the wins. Instead Pete Morris our "hype" man is tweeting what he had for dinner on Sundays. The VT program highlights as of now are the following: Great Stadium and entrance. Sadman is great. The best food on campus. I will reach back to what Coach Cav used to say " There are 2 columns in sports 1 with a W and 1 with an L" you want to be on the left with the W. I do not see the program getting to the W column. I think Coach Fu is out of his element coming from Memphis. His staff can't recruit on a Top 20 level. They are used to getting transfers from other D1 programs who did not make it and ended up at Memphis. His claim to fame was Paxton Lynch at QB. His NFL career was NFL Not for Long. I hope will eat these words at a later date however I do not see it coming anytime soon.
