Funny story from a Doctor friend of mine. A woman came in with a mild

eye injury, with her husband in tow. They were probably in their 70's....maybe 80's, but if so, in pretty good shape for 80's. The woman had scratched her eye somehow, so my Doc friend asks her "How'd you get hurt?"

But the husband pipes up, saying that she was trimming the palm tree in their yard, got surprised by a hummingbird flying near her face and in her surprise, got a palm frond in her eye as she waved it away. It turns out, there was a small nest in the palm tree that she didn't notice.

No big deal, my friend thinks, except he notices the wife giving the husband the stink eye, and she suddenly pipes up "Oh knock it off 'Tom' (name changed to protect the innocent). You know I can't stand those F'n hummingbirds. I saw the nest and I was trying to kill the little bastards but that one got to me first and flapped in my eye. I'm not ashamed of it, and you shouldn't be either. Damn hummingbirds, good for nothin'."

The husband just looked sheepish. Probably just embarrassed that his wife hates hummingbirds for some weird reason.
