Probably 8 or 9 years now. I want us to win, of course. I cheer us on, get mad when we lose, etc. But at this point football is about getting together with my core group of tailgate friends a bunch of times a year and having fun. We tailgate basically from 9AM until after the game, no matter what time it is. Some of us go to road games and bowl games too. While I still want us to win, and at the stadium I cheer loud and long, the games themselves are almost a McGuffin for the getting together with this particular group of friends who are spread across 5 different states. If we for some reason aren't allowed to tailgate, even at my friend's camper in the airplane lot -- I won't be making the 600 mile round trip just to go to a game.

I've been a huge fan of Tech hoops since I was a student in the Metro heyday. The Curry/Beacher/Colbert/Young*2 timeframe. Obviously the 90s lull, especially pre-internet when it was hard to follow the team from Maryland, dulled that, but as soon as we got into the ACC it's been full speed ahead. The basketball season provides more game excitement to me than football, and has for a while. With basketball, it's still about the game to me.
