Golf club buying advice?....

I'm not a great golfer, mainly because I rarely practice (why would I spend hours at the driving range when I could be playing 9 or 18 holes, right?) And only play during the summer about once a week. So it goes without saying that since I don't practice and don't play a ton, I'm not going to ever get much better.... And I'm ok with that. I usually shoot around 92-95 (those 3 puts will really kill ya..... Along with shanking a ball or two into the woods).
I have a set of clone clubs from Gigagolf.com that I bought about 6 years ago. They've been good, but now I'm looking for a new set. With as little as I play, I'm thinking $800-$1000+ is foolish for a really nice irons. So I'm looking at clone's again. (also, my soon-to-be brother-in-law wants to play when we go to the beach this summer and he doesn't have clubs.... I'm thinking this would be a good chance to give him mine and I have an excuse to get new ones)
Does anyone have suggestions for irons (or brands such as gigagolf or pinemeadow)?
