On our first dive, my dive buddy promptly ran into a piece of staghorn
coral that put a gash in his forehead. I looked at him with his mask half full of blood/water and saw blood streaming from his forehead. We surfaced and the captain said he would be fine so we went back down with blood streaming from his head and found ourselves face to face with the biggest barracuda I have ever seen. He was about 6+ feet and we later found out he was a popular resident of the reef named Billy. We proceeded without incident but I was happy I wasn't the one oozing blood everywhere.
Several people on our boat saw a 12' hammerhead. While I would have liked to see him, it is probably a good thing we didn't.
