All the recruiting and facilities and food and jerseys, etc. are just supporting elements to getting wins. And the wins go hand in hand with the fundraising.

This is a business and results matter now. By using the resources argument, you automatically push any benefits out by at least two years. Because if all resources are tied to getting better recruits (we already have the coaches that JF wants), then you have to first get the resources in place, then get the recruits, and then very few are likely to have meaningful contributions right away.

The resource angle is part of the cfb machine. It gives the media something to talk about. It gives the schools something to sell to donors. It gives the fans something to debate and experience (with facilities). But ultimately it's not required to play and win football games.
