recommended shelf life for spices is 3 yrs. however...
'Spices and seasonings never go bad, they simply decrease in potency over time. There are no health concerns associated with using spices and seasonings past their optimal shelf life date." I guess that means if you have some old oregano, you need to smoke twice the amount to get the full effect.
