Went to Amherst County tonight to see Hokie softball recruit Emma Lemley pitch in the Region 4D softball championship game.

She was as good as I expected, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 13 in 6 innings. Unfortunately, Emma’s defense let her down as an error on a sacrifice bunt allowed a Amherst runner to score from first for the game’s only run.

However, I will tell you that Emma was absolutely “Poppin’ It.” She looked really, really good and I can’t wait to see her wearing the orange and maroon next season. Hokies coach Pete D’Amour was in attendance and he seemed very pleased with his future player.

I got to meet Emma’s mom and dad and they are wonderful folks. Her dad shared that Mackenzie Lawter stopped by to visit with Emma during Jefferson’s Forest’s game with Halifax on Wednesday night. You simply have to love that kind of camaraderie.

I’m telling you, folks – the future is very, very bright for Hokies softball!!!

By the way, admission was $7 to attend. I know we have discussed this issue before, but VT is leaving a lot of dollars on the table by not charging for attendance.
