Lost my dad to Parkinson’s last year.

It is a terrible disease. He lived to be 80, but he had tremors starting in his 50’s. He lived an active life until he was about 72 or so. The last year was extremely difficult. He had hallucinations regularly. He was a peaceful soul in general, but I ended up having to be a marriage counselor between him and my mom on a regular basis because he really didn’t know who she was sometimes. It nearly wore me and my mother out taking care of him, with little to no help from other family and healthcare due to the pandemic. In the last 3 weeks of his life, when I took him to the bathroom, he would go into hypnotic trances that would last about 10-15 minutes. It is a cruel disease, but his decline was so gradual (except for the last few years) that I can truly say he lived a complete, blessed life, and I am thankful for the time I had with him.
