The safest place to have ocean front homes in Florida is...

...along the east coast starting somewhere near the middle of the state to the GA line. Hurricanes seems to parallel the coast, then hit in GA or SC. Can't remember the last time Jacksonville actually had a hurricane direct hit...maybe 100 years ago?

I lived in Miami, and we had three hurricanes every year. Not two, not four, but three every year I lived there. Thankfully none were more than a Cat I when they made landfall. Since I lived in Doral, the most we saw was Tropical Storm winds.

We had a few when I lived in Key West. Maybe one a year for the two years I was there?

The panhandle and the west coast of FL get hit with hurricanes that make their way into the Gulf.

If I wanted oceanfront FL living, would buy somewhere between St. Augustine to Fernandina Beach. (If I hit a big lottery, would head for Fernandina.)
